Double Crochet Three Together Crochet Tutorial

Hello friends! It’s Tutorial Tuesday! Who is ready to learn the Double Crochet Three Together Decrease (dc3tog)?

Double Crochet 3 Together (dc3tog)

The Double Crochet 3 Together (dc3tog) is a way of eliminating stitches in your work and to give it shape.  It can also be used decoratively in designing! To make a dc3tog, you will work a half-formed double crochet into the three indicated stitches, then complete the stitch by yarning over and pulling through all 4 remaining loops on your hook.

  1. Yarn over (yo), insert your hook into the first indicated stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops.  You’ll have 2 loops left on your hook.
  2. Yo, insert your hook into the second indicated stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops.  You’ll have 3 loops left on your hook.
  3. Yo, insert your hook into the last indicated stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops.  You’ll have 4 loops on your hook.
  4. Yo, pull through all four loops on your hook.

See following step by step photos. If you would like to see a video of this stitch performed, I have recorded a video tutorial for you below!

And, as promised, if you prefer to see this stitch in action, here’s a video tutorial as well!

Woohoo! You did it! Pat yourself on the back and treat yourself to some more yarn to make something with this new stitch!

Happy yarn shopping!
